The Embrace Music Foundation presents Rhythms of Africa: Music Around the World on Saturday, October 15 at 2 and 7 p.m. in the Parker Playhouse. This musical odyssey of discovery features 60 youths from Lauderdale Lakes Educational Complex’s Smart School Charter Middle and Eagle Charter Academy who find inspiration and confidence working alongside a dozen professional musicians under the direction of Willie Stewart, who played percussion for 23 years with the internationally renowned band Third World. Stewart's remarkable percussion sessions with children unite musicians, families and entire communities in the celebration of music. This free event is made possible by a John S. and James L. Knight Foundation's Knight Arts Challenge Grant and generous support from private community donors.
